Default Hummer Again

Got out today and took this with the 300. I find it amazing how he can turn the red color on his throat on and off at will.

Lookin' good!

Patty

(Btw, GW, I should have known better than to open your posting of the spider. The first image I could take, but when I got to the second I had to close the screen.)

Lovely shot of a beautiful subject - great choice of shutter speed to stop the action but still show the amazing wing-blur, and great lighting to capture the red throat.

Hi Tom,

This last week, I was able to get my first "exposure" to HB shooting. I'd always look at them and say to myself "Pretty good, but I've seen better. . .".

. . . Then I got a chance to try it. . . I got some pretty good shots -- but they mostly look like they're shot in B/W! You have to get the light at just the right angle -- a degree or two off, and it might have well been B/W -- I've yet to get one where all the full colors are evident. -- and these guys are tiny and VERY quick!

You really have to try it yourself to really appreciate a good HB shot!

I've seen quite a few great shots using Trap Focusing, and my first thought was -- "good, but that's cheating. . ." Just today, I found myself mentally working out the best Trap Focus combo for my next outing. . .

Great shot!!! I hope to be able to post something close to as good soon. . . well, maybe. . .
