Default Catwalk Ex Aug 29/ James WU, Taiwanfest, Toronto

Taken Aug 29 Taiwanfest , Toronto.

Lenses used were 135mm & 200mm. Majority no flash as lighting was decent

I think he has established himself with the magical Obama touch. Very insightful stroke with tall black model indeed. And I look at it with zero interest in fashion.

200mm

Very nice series, even if I don't exactly appreciate the designer clothes. The models are lovely, and you managed quite a few pictures that compliment them very well.

I agree Daniel. I can't say that I'm taken with the fshions, but then again my wife will tell you that I have no fashion sense at all. Whether or not I appreciate the fashions, your photos are superb. Taken without flash these pics must have been very challenging.

I was kind of confused

In terms of illumination I would say it was more than adequate indeed.

The lighting set up of the catwalk was kind of nuts with those over powerful floor light (over that of the stage ceiling light). After using my flash a short while I gave up using flash. Instead I was shooting F2.8 - F3.5 & 1/125s-1/180/s & iso 800.

When you go into a new scene you have no idea what you are facing.

If you look at my first posted image you can see the shadow on the model face as cast by the powerful floor light. Very rare setup indeed,

I have no complaint about the qual of dress , model and make up. It was a very serious endeavor except for the overwhelming floor light. It is possible that the designer or the lighting fellow was trying to achieve some effect that I am not aware of.

Nice series , weird clothes of course. Some very good shots, the lighting let you down in a couple though.

Daniel - your talent and skill, and the beauty of the models, shines through despite the difficult lighting (and the rather unusual/bizarre fashions). Thanks for sharing!

Daniel, lovely shots under adverse conditions. Your skills as a runway photographer are excellent.

I seem to agree with the consensus that the fashions are a bit "out There".
