I agree that the best way that the more good competition between the camera manufacturers, the better for the consumer - keeps everyone on their toes.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to photography. I went into Costco a number of years ago to buy my first dSLR. I went in with every intention of walking out with a Canon, even though I had a few manual Pentax lenses. However, I preferred the ergonomics of the Pentax so I decided that, plus the money I saved at first by using my old lenses, was a great reason to buy a DS. I've never regretted it for a moment.

This new Canon will appeal to many. I'm not interested in any more pixels - 14 is plenty for me. The K-7 fits me very well so I'm not interested in anything else.

It's called the Horsepower race. Canon brings something out, new, improved, more MP power...then Nikon...then Pentax..then Olympus....then...you get the idea.

Right now Canon has introduced the best, new idea in a camera...till...till...the next camera from another manufacturer.

right now some of those outside the "horsepower race" have caught my eye.

i have been following the micro 4/3 system here of late. the little pen-e and new 1 from panny look really nice for a travel/street camera when you dont want to bring out the slr/lens. the images coming out of them are pretty impressive for something of that size.
