Wow. Stunning.

For more go to WORK > PHOTOGRAPHS > BIRD (30 images) and then go down to CREATURE (30 more). Use the small arrow on the bottom of the pages to scroll through the images.

Quite an assortment of birds and beasts - he must have an in with a zoo curator or two.

Hi Roy,

There are a couple of "behind the scenes" videos and a clip of an appearance/interview with Ellen D on YouTube. These are shot against a large white seamless background in a studio type setting that they transport to the location, so they are "as shot" -- no digital magic done apparently. He wanted to get the highest degree of subject isolation -- just his style

Pretty amazing stuff. . . My jaw just dropped when I saw the first bird, and it remained that way for the entire clip. This is clip is actually a promo for his photo book of the same name. He also has one with other animals called "Creature".

Wow, is inadequate!
I was wondering how he got the images separated from the background... now I know. Thanks for the link Scott, I have this one book marked.

Besides the marvellous bird portraying, I'm also stunned by some of the species he portrays. The light blue macaw, Spix's Macaw, six specimens in one picture, is one of the most threatened birds in the entire world: http://www.avianweb.com/spixsmacaw.html
