Hard pick, but I think I like the cheetah best. Had the same problem with the fencing at the Franklin Park Zoo a while back. But, it was worth it.

Your daughter sure is brave to hold that snake. You wouldn't see me up there!

Thank you both for the kind words. You should have been around later when she encountered the T-Rex in another part of the zoo... She was hiding behind daddy. Here's my son bravely posing with his favorite dino:

I don't know, Mike. Looks like he's ready to run.

A nice series of photos, and it looks like the whole family had a great day. My favorite is clearly the African Crested Cranes. The composition, color, and lighting are very strong on this shot. These are fun birds to shoot. I never miss the chance when I go to the Little Rock Zoo.

I looked it up and I had it slightly wrong, they are African Crowned Cranes, but that's just being picky on my own part and not your fault. Thank you for the kind words. The only thing I wish for would have been if I had grabbed my 70-300mm when I shot them instead to get a little closer.

Looks like a great family day, great photos are just gravy on the top! We are headed to the zoo in Tampa this weekend (if my replacement K20d arrives in time) or the Florida Aquarium (if it doesn't) this weekend and I hope we have as much fun.

Great shots Mike,
but I do like the last one (of the dino) best.

Mike - thanks for sharing this great series - both the fine shots of the critters, and the really cute shots of your own photogenic "critters!" Some excellent composition and fine capture of colors!

Yeah, the key is always that the kids have fun. Thank you for the kind words. Good luck with your camera.

The dinos were actually the reason we went in the first place. Thank you.
