Temple of Artemis in Sardis

Built about the 4th Century BC the temple was dedicated to the main goddess of Sardis: Artemis (who still retains her cult throughout the world today!) As you may know Sardis was later to become one of the Seven Churches of Revelation in Anatolia.

Very nice shots arkadas, a master piece built by King Croesus and also devoted to Zeus. Is there also a touch of HDR in these? well done my friend;)

Happy to see you around arkadas! As for the temple; though dedicated to Artemis originally (following the Cybele tradition) when first built by Croesus in 6th century BC, it also served to Zeus at some later phase of its history after it was rebuilt in the Hellenistic period, the remains of which we see now. And, yes, they are 4X4 HDR my friend : )

Beautiful HDR captures of these ancient ruins. The columns are works of art unto themselves.

I can't pick a favorite as they are all stunning.

Very good use of HDR here. Thanks for sharing these excellent captures that were given excellent PP treatment to bring out the absolute best.

These are beautiful shots. I really love the first one - the stonework is incredible. Thinking of how old these ruins are makes our 100 year old history look so puny. Keep posting these pictures, they are going a long way toward putting Turkey high on my must-see spots.

These are all lovely. Sure makes me want to go and see in person.
