Nice shot Penolta. My only success with swallowtails has been with one drinking from wet sand at the edge of the lake. As you said, they are almost always in motion.

Nice, penolta. Glad someone could capture them. I saw some type of butterfly when I was in Bakersfield a few weeks ago, but they wouldn't sit still long enough for me. You did good!

Thanks Tim and Patty. I was concerned that the Giants (we have two living in our yard) would not survive the rains earlier this week if either of them spent the night in such an exposed location when the rains set in, but they and the others all seem to have come through unscathed (even the little Marine Blue whose picture I posted along with this one: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/pe...butterfly.html ).
