Default A short hike with Mole...

While on vacation in Tenn. we headed up to "Kingsport" to look up a world renowned "Nature Photographer and Park Ranger" that goes by the handle of "Mole". Using my best, highly trained detective skills I managed to track him down, deep in the heavily wooded hills of N.Eastern Tenn.
After introducing Linda and myself, Mole offered to take us on a little hike, to capture a couple shots of this very pretty caterpillar. He told me the name but, I forgot. He even let me use his 105mm macro lens, that I tried very hard to forget to give back to him...

He was making short work of the local vegatation...

I managed to get a fair shot of this wheel bug but, had a bit of trouble holding still enough to keep his head in focus...

And this lovely flower.

There was this foot bridge that looked very tempting but, we were running behind schedual and had to get on the road.

I hope you enjoyed the walk, we sure did! If any of you get the chance to visit NE Tennesee, be sure to look mole up. He's a great guide, not to mention story teller anf full of jokes too. Thanks, Marty for the experiance and for being such a gracious host. I just wish we had not been so short on time.

I can see why you didn't want to let go of the 105mm....these are some great shots. No question my favorite is the flower in #6. Colors are perfect and the balance with the background couldn't be better.

Congratulations on being able to meet up with Mole. One of the nice things about the people on this forum is that they all seem like people you'd love to spend a couple of hours with, sharing a love of photos.

Some amazing photos. I really like the purple flowers. Looks like you had a good time.

It is great to get to meet people and be able to put a face to the name. It's been great each week meeting with Lou (keltech) at our camera club meetings.

I agree, the flowers are also my favorite, though all of them are very nice. As has been said, all of you have become friends who I'd love to meet face to face.

Well done for tracking down Mole, very nice.
That caterpillar is sure psychedelic and the flower shot is just beautiful.

Great souvenirs of a memorable trip. Lucky for you that you didn't disturb that Wheel Bug, though - they are famous for their painful bites - and they aren't called Assassin Bugs for nothing!
