Default Another " I'm bored" picture...

Just messing around with photo shop to see what can be done with an otherwise boring photo.
This is a shot of the top of the Andrew Johnson memorial Cemetery in Greenville Tn. Nothing to
really look at .

I thought this might look better as a background... the only problem was it was taken with GX10 last year and save as a jpeg @ 72 ppi so its not as nice as it could have been.

This is what I came up with. Not great perhaps but, still... a little more interesting?

Critique and comments welcome. Or, if you want to try your own hand at it, feel free.

The cloud/rainbow picture is awesome, but don't think it goes with the statue. I barely notice the statue with that sky. One thing you could try if you want to use such a strong background would be to lighten the statue quite a bit. My eye is always drawn to things that are lighter instead of darker and I think the statue is too dark to stand out. If you still have the intermediate, layered file, try lightening the layer with the statue, leaving the background alone.

Thanks Harriet, I'll give that a try and see what I can come up with.

Actually, I think it is pretty effective as it is. Cloudy skies make dark images where shadows fall, and the rainbow foretells sunnier times ahead - unintended symbolism perhaps, but it seems to fit. I like it!

Get bored more often!

Thank you Pen,
I appreciate both opinions and I'm open to all, I have much to learn and that's why I post my "experiments" in hopes of getting feedback like this!
Thanks again,

I did a quick and dirty attempt to lighten the statue to see how it might look, I may have increased the contrast too much?

That's exactly what I had in mind when I made the suggestion and I don't think you went overboard. I like it better, but I'm not sure it is a better picture (there's often a big difference!). I'll be interested in what others think.

Some interesting experiments! I think I like the darker (first) version better, giving more emphasis to that amazing sky.
