Default Eye piece rubber

I need help in reinstalling the horseshoe-shaped rubber surround on my K10D eyepiece. I removed it to better clean the glass there, and now can't get it reseated so it will firmly remain.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
Also, how important is the rubber part?

Old Engineer, Page 60 (see memo section at the bottom of the page) of your manual tells you how to remove and re-install the rubber sorround of the eye piece. If you do not have the manual, use this link to download a free copy from Pentax.
