Default Wind & Rain & Sun

Sorry to have not been by for several days... We experienced some major winds and rain recently, and I've been out on the trail sawing fallen trees. Still in the midst of trail clearing, but had a bit of time for a few photos.

First a few views of one of our trailheads - under water!! The creek here usually flows into a sinkhole and joins an amazing cave system, but the flow was just too much for the cave to handle. So all the trees have "wet feet," (and I do too!)

After the heavy rains came some amazing winds (our friends down in the Smokies clocked over 100 mph winds, ours were just in the 50's) Our usually placid lake looked more like the ocean!

Our friendly Heron sure looked wind-tossed!

The Kingfishers rode out the winds clinging to powerlines!

And all the smaller songbirds hid in dense thickets - far from wind (and also hard to photograph among all those branches!)

Once the storms were over, we had some bright but very cold weather - some great light! Between working on trails, I headed out to a nearby abandoned farm that I've been planning to photograph for some time. (How do you like the techological contrast in the last one?)

Forecast is for very cold but sunny weather coming - hope to have some time to explore some nearby high country, and share a few photos.
Thanks for looking, and glad for any comments/critique!

Scary weather! It's hard to imagine a trailhead in that first picture. If these several storms don't blow themselves out, you'll be seeing more wild weather soon.

Another great series Mole!
The only thing I dislike more than then cold weather is, wet cold weather!

You barn shots are great! aint no prettier sky than a blue one right after a storm!
