Default Nature preserve

I took this shot last year at a local nature preserve. I couldn't get a good shot at all, the sun was in the wrong place and casting heavy shadows on the birds along with a bright glare on the water. I had to take two shots hand-held, to get the whole flock and merge with CS4. also did some heavy PP to make it a little more appealing. The sky was blown out so I added that from another shot, used the shadow/highlight adjustment and a little work with curves. I know I should have cloned out the vegetation in the foreground but, I got tired and quit. anyway, this shot was just to show the humber of Pelicans gathering there. this is about a third of what was there the week before. Hope you enjoy them.

Hmmm... After posting, it doesn't look nearly as good as the full sized photo but, you get the idea anyway.

Life's a breeze on a Goldwing...

That is a CROWD of pelicans! Would love to see more of your photos of them. How close can you get before they take off?

Wow! I've only ever seen pelicans twice. Once at Morro Bay, California and once somewhere in Florida. I think we were near Jacksonville. And, those times there were only two or three.
