and the EVIL race heats up. despite its APS-C sized sensor, it is about the same size as the Panny G1. I am excited to see more results as they come in, to see how that sensor performs in comparison to m4/3s. Only caveats: Are they too late to the party? Can Samsung's name carry a line?

Samsung was gaining a lot of market share in the non-dSLR segment, the last time I saw any numbers published for world wide market share (i.e., they had moved into fourth place in 2007). But, I haven't seen any numbers since then to see if that trend has continued.

Innovative products like their duel LCD TL220/225 and now this aps-c sized EVIL will surely help this.

One research firm had them in the number 3 spot for 2007 (I think IDC had them at number 4).

Sony and Canon have been leading that niche (worldwide digital camera sales when you look at point and shoot models), sometimes swapping places from one year to the next.

IDC has numbers for 2008. But, I haven't seen them published anywhere, and they want $3500 for their report.

Sounds interesting. Definitely want to hear more detailed specs, though, and unbiased views of focus capabilities, EVF, etc. Things are moving in this direction , though.

i dont know about these things - that electronic viewfinder is limiting - dynamic range is rather poor compared to your eye - also call me crazy but it looks a little small to confortably hold - i dont see these replacing normal slr's any time soon
