I think if you reduced the contrast you would end up with very flat looking shots. You might want to shoot RAW to get a bit more dynamic range but that will slow things down. I never shoot RAW for sports shooting.

i shot raw + jpg, single shots, so i could try playing with the raw files
i did go back again and get down to the wet sand which got me a lot closer
and that did make a difference, now i have crooked horizons too lol
you have given me a lot to work on
