Default Why Pentax / Samsung same forum?

Shouldn't Pentax and Samsung have separate forums now? It looks like both companies are on a different path now. Pentax is using Sony sensor in the newest Kx, and the new NX10 seems to be 100% Samsung with nothing to do with Pentax.

well within DSLR's pentax and samsung are the still the same mount.

the NX10 is not a dslr, so that issue needs to be sorted out with the whole EVIL cameras.

Looks like there will have to be a third category added - one for point and shoot, one for EVIL and one for dSLR.

I can see where Samsung's NX camera owners would need a separate place, while the Samsung dSLR cameras fit in with Pentax, since there are only a few differences between the cameras (menu items mostly). For the most part, Samsung dSLR cameras are re-badged Pentax cameras, and their lenses definitely are.

It can be a bit confusing trying to sort out the differences between different camera types anymore, given new models with interchangeable lenses that are not technically a dSLR (since there is no reflex mirror involved) like the Samsung NX10.

So, we're tossing around some ideas on how to change some of the layout to make it easier to navigate as more models like these are probably going to be introduced as time passes from various manufacturers.

When will we see the first mirror reflex camera without a sensor?

But is Samsung even DSLR business anymore? When was the last Samsung DSLR released? With their new NX10 that is 100% Samsung and the new propriety mount, it seems Samsung is on their own separate path now.

As I already mentioned, we're tossing around some ideas. ;-)

But, keep in mind that Samsung made no secret that it's dSLR models were jointly developed with Pentax, even stating that in some of it's press releases (and you'll find very little difference between most of the models Samsung released as compared to the equivalent Pentax models).

The last dSLR that Samsung released was the GX-20 (using a new Samsung Sensor that was jointly developed with Pentax and also used in the Pentax K20D).

By combining the Pentax and Samsung dSLR forums, that allows members to share information about the bodies that are very similar to each other, as well as share information about how well a given lens works with them. IOW, it really doesn't benefit members by having separate forums for both dSLR brands, since you'll have a better pool of information associated with using these models if you combine the forums for them (versus users of these models needing to look in more than one forum to find similar information).

We did the same thing with the Sony and Konica Minolta dSLR models, since the Sony dSLR models were mostly based on the Konica Minolta models, and they share a common lens mount.

As for Sony sensors being used, I think you'll find that some of the earlier Pentax and Samsung dSLR models also used Sony sensors (as do most Nikon dSLR models). ;-)

Will Samsung continue to jointly develop newer dSLR models with Pentax? I don't know. That remains to be seen. But, for existing owners of these cameras, it makes sense to leave the forums combined.

For the new NX Series, that's a different story. It's a different camera type (it's not a dSLR, since there is no reflex mirror involved) using a unique lens mount, and we're tossing around some ideas that you may see implemented in future forums layout changes.
