Default Parteeeee !!!

This weekend I had the privilege of being hired to shoot a friend's 30th birthday celebration. Honestly can't say I've ever been to a party where so many people had so much fun without the benefit of fermented beverages, after all, the preacher was one of those who spoke for the honoree. Even the buffet table was done up right.

One of his best friends provided a musical tribute

Some of my favorite edits were using selective color, starting with an invocation to be able to blow out "so many" candles. (They no longer put the appropriate number of candles on my cakes by order of the Fire Marshall.)

The highlight of the evening for all, however, was the dancing. I've featured the birthday boy in my entry for the challenge this month. These are a couple of my edits using selective color and OOB.

Shooting conditions were challenging, to say the least, with lights lowered through most of the evening. The table shot was with the K20 and Sigman 20mm f/1.8. All others were with the K-7 and the Tamrom 28-75mm f/2.8. Pentax 540 flash was used on the K-7 bounced off the ceiling. No flash on the table shot. Noiseware use to clean up noise on all shots.

The only depressing part of the evening was on the way home when I realized that my colleague (he's the basketball PA man and a middle school assistant principal, and I do football) was three weeks younger than my oldest son....made me realize what an old fart I really am......lol.

Paul - As long as you can still party with the youn'uns, you're not old!
And you did a great job capturing the fun, excitement and deep friendship of the party as well, despite the difficult lighting conditions.

Those selective colour shots are great ! Really love the one of the two ladies stepping out of the frame you've added.

Great shots Paul. Shot # 2 is really well done - nice control of lighting with fall-off giving great subject isolation.

The frame treatment on the last shot is a winner. A perfect application for the technique.

Nice shooting and PP.
