Default More wintry birds

Had a fine snowstorm this weekend. Not a lot of time to photograph (busy with clearing park, and helping neighbors clear driveways!). But had a little time to snap some birds in the yard, and one big bird in the park.

First the big guy - here are several shots of a very calm GBH in some calm water. Especially would like to know if you prefer with our without the rock (first two photos)

Now for the little birds.
It's been a great winter for seeing birds in the park - don't seem to mind the snow and cold, definitely seem to enjoy all the bird feeders, as well a the bumper crop of various wild berries.
But the Bluejays have been scarce and very shy - not sure why. These are the only photos I've been able to get of them so far this season:

On the other hand, the Cardinals and Carolina Wrens have been extremely abundant, and not very shy. When I was sitting out in the yard, watching and photographing these critters, I noticed that both were very aggressive towards others of their kind, and the Cardinals even hissed loudly to scare others off the food!

Sparrows are also abundant this year - mostly working deep in the dense weedy thickets - full of seeds and safe from prying eyes!
This Song Sparrow was singing his spring song in the thicket, but the White Throated Sparrows were just eating & eating...

It's unusual to see a Goldfinch feeding on the ground, or a Towhee feeding up in the trees...
(Both these species have also started singing a lot lately - hoping for an early spring perhaps??)

And the Yello-Rumped Warblers are our only winter Warblers - very active in the berry thickets, and not too shy of this impatient photographer!

I will be gone most of this week to another state park, not sure if there will be any internet access.

In any case, hope you enjoyed these wintry feathered friends, and hope your week outdoors is a great one!

Thanks for any comments/critique.

Mole,
Another superb thread of photos.

I prefer the GBH without the rock, #3 and #4. I think the shadow/reflection is a little distracting.

What lens were you using on the small birds?, they are great.

And have a good trip.
