I'm really hoping to get out and shoot this weekend because I think this challenge will be fun. Not a challenge entry, but a pano I shot in August of a sunrise over the Ouachita Mountains......five exposures, stitched in PSP12.

To make things easier at month's end for voting, should I make another thread for posting our "real" entries? We can use this one for sharing older shots, or things we've tried but aren't submitting for the challenge. Or, maybe the other way around. Make another thread we can move all our samples to.

Any thoughts.

Default Turn off Shake Reduction

FYI. Turn off shake reduction when using a tripod. I shot a series for the challenge and was amazed at how blurry they were. Forgot to turn it off.

As a reminder to turn off my shake reduction, I strapped one of those velcro strips around one of the legs. It's like tying a string around your finger

I remembered turning off my shake reduction when I read this thread....after going out this morning to see if I could get a good pano.....lol.

This shot was about 60% of an eight shot pano taken just below a dam near Hot Springs. I cut off the rest, which would have been on the left, simply the river area wasn't that interesting and the lighting wasn't real good. After all the snow and rain we've had, the blue sky over the dam is a rarity.

Taken with the K-7 and the 18-585 WR kit lens at 18mm.

Edit: I knew I shouldn't say anything about having beautiful blue skies. Four hours after the pano was taken.....

I have long been of the opinion that there should be nothing but entries in a contest thread (except for clarifications of the theme, voting rules, etc), as comments by others about entries can influence voting, and I usually refrain from such activities. However, in the final analysis, since there is nothing official about it, and there are no fiscal rewards involved, there is no real reason why it cannot be whatever the participants want it to be - so while I try to restrain myself, sometimes I get caught up in the spirit and go with the flow. But it can get confusing when non-qualifying images are posted.

Up at Pond Mt Wilderness area this Saturday to check out some waterfalls, and took a little side hike up to Potato Top for the views. Here's one view - 5 photos stitched together using Photosphere:

Default Portland Head Light Cape Elizabeth Maine

Each shot was 5 shots +/- .03 combined in Photomatix and made into HDR. Four combined pictures were stitched in Microsoft ICE.

Paul... I'd really like to have one of those 18-585mm lenses!
Do they cost very much?

Just a couple of dollars more than the pair of glasses I should have worn while typing.

Paul

(18-55mm WR kit lens)
