Default White On White

Had a white sky behind this white bird. Allelements do not always come together for the best shot, a nice blue sky would have been great. Exposure was not bad for the circumstances.

K7, DA* 300mm with 1.7X AF Adapter

I like this - it's an interesting picture. I think you managed as good detail because the sky was so grey, you were able to avoid blowing out the wings. The lighting coming through the wings is nice.

I agree the exposure is very good, you've got good detail, even in the left wing. 300mm plus 1.7x = 510mm, please don't tell me you did this hand held.

Yes, I find I miss more in flight opportunities trying to use a tripod. The tripod limits your reaction time and the area you can cover.

Well then, you certainly have some amazingly steady hands. They go well with your amazing photography skills! I agree - you captures some incredible detail in those wings!

I find that following motion hand held with a long lens is smoother than holding the lens steady in static shooting. The direction of lighting favored this shot against the white background, and it turned out quite well. A nice change of pace from the usual blue sky backgrounds. I like it, too.

I'm starting to get really frustrated... I find more and more threads that I know I replied to, and then a day or so later find I must have forgotten to hit the submit button. Ah, there's just nothing quite like getting old!

Anyway Ed, I just wanted to say I like it.

GW, don't worry. As you get older the frustration will subside. You will start forgetting that you even read a thread to begin with let alone forgot to hit the submit button.
