Default Reno Races 09 - Picture Heavy

Been a long time for a number of reasons (work) but I have a few nice ones from our trip to the Reno Air Races last Sept. Our trip there in 2006 was the driving force for me to get a DSLR. I discovered I still need a bigger lens.

EDIT: All done with K10D and DA 55-300

Some Blue Angels...

Everyone likes the Corsair but I had few good shots

Rare Bare on takeoff. This is a very modified Sea Fury.

The 09 Unlimited winner, Strega. A massively modified p-51

Voodoo - a very modified p-51

A Wildcat. WAAAAAYYYYY too slow to compete but neat to see in the air.

2 Warhawks in a race.

Just a few more... I swear I will stop.

A Bearcat leading a Sea Fury in a Silver Unlimited heat.

The best pic I took - a Firefly

Awesome pix! Looks like that 55-300 worked out pretty well for you.
years ago when I was a property manager in Los Angles, I had a tenant that was a pilot in the Blue Angles Team. He was quite a character, a really nice guy and full of stories.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Very nice pictures! They do look good - some day I'll make it to an air show - I haven't been to one in a very, very long time. They are great fun, but I never take the time.

Default Been to Oshkosh

I made several week-long trips to the airshow at OshKosh, WI. Really loved them. Too old to go now , but have scads of nice pix. If anyone is interested in seeing them, please say so here, and I will do my best to add them.

Some really fine action shots - great captures of the excitement - fine color and detail too.

PS - Old Engineer - sure would like to see them. Thanks!

Great shooting of this fast action. The shot of the Blue Angles with wheels up wheels down is a real prize. Nice lens and great shooting skills.

When I worked in the aerospace industry I went every 2 years to the Paris Air Show. It was a spectacular show that featured the world's latest and greatest aircraft performing at the limits of their flight envelope.

Thanks to all for the favorable comments. It was kinda hard to limit it to these but they seem to do the best job of showing the best pics and showing what was there to see. It is a great short vacation with Tahoe and Virignia City so close by if you ever have the chance.

The color in the Firefly pic still amazes me. Just goes to show how great early morning light can be. Oh, I think that one was the kit lens (18-50) to boot.

Very impressive. I went to a show quite a few years ago and it was near impossible to get the moving targets. And, dealing with the sun was difficult, too. You did a wonderful job.

Great pics. Very impressive. Several years ago the Air Force Thunderbirds came to our area. This was before I owned a DSLR, so I did my best with my Panasonic FZ30. It was a fine camera in many respects, but trying to track a fighter jet with an EVF superzoom was nearly impossible.
