Default wounded Turkey Vulture

As we were leaving the nature preserve I spotted this wounded Turkey Vulture running towards a stand of grass and shrubs. Then he turned and looked at me.

As I tried to get closer he made an all out attempt to take off but, just couldn't make it. He just scrambled into the bush

Very nice pictures, but it's always sad to see a hurt animal.

GW - fine photos - great light, great sharpness & detail!
Have you reported the injured bird to the nature center staff? Might be treatable...

Thanks guys,
Yes Harriet, it sure is sad. To see any creature that's hurting but, I can live with it if its just natures way. What makes me mad is when its caused by some ignorant human being. In this case I believe it was from a fight with another bird.

Mole. yes, I did. They said they check into it.
I wish this one had turned out better, the way he was looking at me was kind of comical.

Great pictures GW. I think in the last one he's wondering if your friend or foe. Nice wing detail in #1 & #2.
