BTW - All the photos in these Shanghai Zoo threads were taken with a K7 and either a Pentax 80 - 320 (most of them) I picked up last week for US$100 and wanted to try out, or with my standard walk-around Sigma DC 18-125mm.

Exif:
1. 1/800 F5.6 80mm ISO 400 Aperture P. Minor Cropping
2. 1/640 F5.6 180mm ISO 400 Aperture P. Major Cropping
3. 1/800 F5.6 280mm ISO 800 Aperture P. No Cropping
4. 1/1600 F5.6 280mm ISO 400 Aperture P. No Cropping

All have had minor adjustments in LR3 & Elements 4 (dfine 2).

1, 3 & 4 are nice shots. # 2 has too much blur for my taste. My favorite is # 3, nice pose with the bear about to eat the fruit.

I've never seen bears like this. Cute! I like the third one best. Looks like he's saying "ha, it's mine and you can't have it".

Interesting, I have never seen these either.
#3&4 are my favorite. #2 is a bit soft but, I really like the pose you got.

Great shots of some very cute critters! Really "up close & personal."

Thank you Lou, GW, Patty & Mole !

I wanted my trip to the zoo to focus on animals native to China, animals that most people will not be familiar with, rather than the usual Lions, Tigers and Elephants.

#2 - yes, it is too soft really but I loved the way he was in ecstasy scratching himself on the tree. Below is a untouched photo showing the comparative size of these small bears, there are lots of semi-wild cats in Shanghai and this one was intent on stealing food from the bears.

On my next trip I want to focus on the Red Panda (called Small Panda in China) - one poor untouched photo below as an introduction - another lovely indigenous animal.
