Good to hear you got it to take the up dated OK!
I was really feeling bad for you knowing all the problems I've had sending cameras back and waiting for there return. Anyway, you have me scratching my head with the lens problem, I do hope its not something with the camera.
let us know.

Well, can't offer you any advice on the lens/camera issue. But, will wish you a happy belated birthday.

Well hopefully it's not the lens, Sigma want $120 as a base figure for fixing the lens, but I can buy a new one for $165. Buying the camera cleared me out of money for a while (was supposed to be a treat) so don't want to send Sigma $120 and find out there's nothing wrong with it.

I recently bought a 1930's medium format Coronet folding camera so can happily play with that for a few weeks now the weather is getting better if it means it doesn't cost me anything.

*edit*

Thanks nhmom!

I wish I could offer you some help, but I have no idea other than to say I'm quite sure the problem is with the camera body, not the lenses. As it happens I have the K20, a Sigma 17-300 APO DG, and the FA 28-105. The camera recognizes the Sigma with no problem, and the power zoom function works without a hitch on the 28-105. Your K7 is an upgrade over my K20, so I'm sure Pentax would have equipped it with at least the same ability to recognize a lens as mine has.

Happy birthday, good luck, and enjoy the Coronet!

Thanks mtnman

Yeah it has the power contacts inside the mount for power zoom, and it states it works with them in the manual.

It's looking pretty certain it is the body... oh well... lol

All sorted now, got the new body and everything works like a dream, I originally skipped the kit lens but grabbed it when I was there swapping out the body, and wow!

The kit lens is superb, I thought the original one from my K10D was good, but this new WR lens is brilliant!

Will post some pics later as soon as I get GIMP working properly again.

Glad to hear that your problem is now sorted out. Replacing a camera (or new lens) ends up being much easier than suffering with something that isn't quite right.

I'd love to see some pictures with the WR kit lens.
