Thanks Paul. I get flocks of 30-40 at a time. I've seen 20 male and female cardinals at once around the feeders.

One of the Cowbirds in the first photo looks pretty beat up. Not my favorite birds, since they are nest parasites, replacing other bird's eggs with their own, to be raised by the foster parents. One of our local Fish & Wildlife Service biologists (a former student of mine who unfortunately died prematurely last year) was heavily involved in a successful Cowbird eradication project to save a population of the endangered Least Bell's Vireo, which had been almost extirpated by the Cowbirds.
The worn bird in question Pen is a juvenile Cow Bird. They do not stay around very long here and the Purple finches actually stay here all year long as we are in such a mild weather area.
