I agree with the advice you have already received. If Pentax will evaluate it and give an estimate for free or for a minimal fee, it's worth having them give the "official" word. But given what you've said, I'm sorry to say I can't be very optimistic. It sounds like the shake reduction mechanism may be malfunctioning. As Patty suggested you might be able to find the K20 at a good price. The Kx is also very highly rated, so you have some choices if it turns out that the K100 is beyond hope.

not the shake reduction, tried turning that on and off, and tried just about everything.

Time for a new pentax, what should i get around the same price range that'll fit my k-mounts lenses?

I believe anything Pentax will work. What price range are you talking?

Since that's your price-range, check out the K-x. You'd get the newer kit lens (which you wouldn't really need, but it's supposed to be nicer than the old one). It's the lower priced Pentax camera that's current, has another excellent sensor. Otherwise, if you want more control over the camera, look around for a K20. There seems to be a few still around here and there. It's the K10 replacement, and has been more or less replaced by the K-7, which is out of your price range.

The K-x looks excellent for the price, I was really considering getting it over the K-7.
