Wow, great mood! Both portray the mood nicely, but I prefer the first one.

I'm looking on my laptop that needs to be calibrated right now. But, I prefer the first one. The manhole cover in the second one is distracting to me. Also, the ghosting branches in the middle.

Looks like you've got the same stage of budding trees we do. I was out trying to get some today, but it was just a little too windy.

#1 -- I like the way the tree branch comes into it. And, as stated, that manhole cover really snags the eye in #2.

I differ, #2 for me. The manhole gives balance and some mystery, just waiting for Humphrey Bogart to step out of the shade...

I love both. #1 at first glance .... but then that manhole cover really grabs you in #2 and demands attention as well as adding perspective !

How did you add the vignette - I can see they are the same shape ?

I'm going with #2...I do like the curve of the street in # 1, but the manhole (which I like in the shot) and less framing from the nearest tree seem to pull you further down the street. It might be a monitor issue for me, but focus seems better on #2.

Both have their good points. I think I prefer the second one, I'm not so crazy about the branches in the first one, not sure why (I can think of a couple of things that I would have done differently but I'm not sure it would have improved the picture. I've tried similar shots and have never been happy with any of them). I agree that the manhole is a bit overwhelming but that could be changed easily. I'm another that expects to see a silhouetted Humphrey Bogart stepping into the light.

Tough to choose - both portray the mood so well, both show great composition. Leaning towards #2, also curious how it would look with the manhole cover cropped out...
