GW, Thanks for the reminder ... I bought a set of rails way back in the winter months, and so far I've never tried them out, in view of your comments re. quality I guess I should try and see how good or bad they are, just playing with then I think I can feel a tiny bit of backlash in the focus rack.
My problem is that I don't have a good quality tripod, it's not something I want to tote about really, so it's use would be very limited ... That's the reason I've never felt like splashing out on a good quality one, the expense seems unjustified for the amount of use it would get. ... Jack.

Hey FF, I don't have any personal experience with Velbon and they may be just fine. I was only going by some of the feedback I had read. The only way to know is try them out, then you can give us a first hand report on them. I curious as to how you like it.

Great macro work with those rails.
I've got the cheap Chinese ones and would gladly trade up.
They work but smooth movement isn't in its vocabulary.

Cheers Ronny

Hey Ronny,
Thank you for the complement. I'm surprised, with the quality of your macro shots I figured you had top notch equipment! Just goes to show what you can get by with when you have the skills to compensate for it. I'm hoping to get as good as you someday but its going to take a lot of practice.
