Red bull air race
some people in Perth claim there is nothing to do, Perth is boring and we seem to have gotten the name Dullsville, but each weekend I manage to go out for at least one day (if not 2) and find things to photograph. Somtimes its just a walk in the hills or it could be the Red bull air race if its in town
like it was last weekend :)
It sure gave the photographers of Perth something to point their cameras at. And there were all kinds of camera from small point and shoots to one guy I saw that had a lens at least a metre long, I reckon he was specialising in the pilots nose hair photography :)
I tried a few lenses and walked around the Swan River to change my views
so here are a few photos (I still havent finished editing them all yet :( )

Love #2 - great shot. Some might find the chopper distracting but I find it adds interest - could be the judges' viewpoint or rescue or just the official photographer's but it adds something to the story ... for me anyway.

I like the view you shot number 2. There is allot of the airplane, and the chase helo is a plus.

I agree - the second one is my favorite, followed closely by the third one. I like the fisheye also, because it gives you a better idea of the distances (and the need for a longer lens). But where's all the people? If they did that in L.A. you wouldn't be able to move or see the sand for all the people. That picture looks a bit flat/dark, perhaps a bit underexposed? At least that's what it looks like on this monitor, it may look differently on a different one.

thanks for all the comments
frogfish and shoturtle the helicopter was the TV chopper and i intentionally included it for added interest :) (i have a few with it in)

Mtngal, Perth isnt that big a place, although there were a few hundred thousand watching the event i believe (how accurate are tv news reports? ) The river front area is also 10ks long where the event was, so lots of places to sit and watch
the only reason i tried the fisheye was because i had it with me :), plus i like the sky after i had taken the shot.
the colours are odd and i am not sure why, the sun is shining right on the lens, and the smoke from the planes did leave a bluish haze, it can be seen in some other photos, so i am not sure if that had a hand in it, i might run an auto levels on the original and see what happens
