Default Arkansas State Capitol (FishEye Fun)

I have always thought Arkansas has an exceptionally beautiful state capitol building, a scale model of the U.S. Capitol...so close, in fact, that several movies have been filmed here with the Arkansas building "standing in" for the U.S. Capitol. Today was an absolutely gorgeous day to be out, so we took a drive to Little Rock, and I played a little with the Capitol building and the Pentax 10-17 FE.

When I went inside, I forgot to check my white balance, initially. However, after I corrected it, I liked the "wrong" color effect better as I looked at the "bent" columns that make up the bottom floor of the four story rotunda.

All photos taken with the K20.

uh.....well.....considering that capitol dome got blown up in the Brian Bosworth epic "Under Seige," it wouldn't be the first time for the building. (BTW, the Hollywood pyrotechnics guys used the wrong powder--it took months and thousands of dollars to get the stain off the dome.)

Love that shot of the Rotunda. These WA lenses can produce some really dramatic shots.

It is interesting that you say you preferred the 'wrong' WB. I often have that same scenario with the K7 - the 'correct' WB doesn't seem 'right' and I go with another choice. Maybe that's just me or maybe that's the same with all DSLRs and not just the K7.

i like the interior dome shot
how the columns and the bit with the lights in make one nice curve
and the two longer shots how the foreground leads you into the picture and up to the building
