Default scorpion fly

Finally got some better shots of this insect, just wanted to share them.
All with my current fav setup - k20d,kiron105mm,dual flash.
Starting with two shots of the lady, then 3 of the guy.

f11 - 1/125sec - iso140

f11 - 1/125sec - iso280

f8 - 1/125sec - iso280

f9.5 - 1/125sec - iso280

f8 - 1/125sec - iso200

Any and all critique is welcome.

Cheers

Ronny

Great shots! That's one bad-looking bug.

Oh wow, you couldn't really make out the *ahem* "tail" on the other photo, but you can really see why it's called a scorpion fly from these. Outstanding shots, and that is one hell of a crazy bug, you learn something new every day coming here!

A very odd insect - its name is well deserved! Outstanding shots!

Thanks you all , a few days ago I complained here that I couldn't get a descent shot of these flies and now ... maybe I have to complain more.

Awesome shots of course, but could you try to lower the strength of your flash to give it a more natural feel?
Love the 4th one the best

thanks Chess

There's a problem with the setup I'm using, the flashes only have one or off setting, only way is adding a diffuser, what I'm already doing and the flashes are not really consistent in their output.

Got a possible improvement with the o-brace and new flashes that arrive next week (only they are even stronger) but a bounce card would work with them.
