Default Almost Summer blooms

It's almost summer in the hills of East TN - sunshine and storms are working together to paint the landscape with blooms.

In early spring, all the blooming things are in the deep woods. Now that summer's approaching, we look in the open fields for new flowers.

Black Eyed Susans have just started their bright blooming season...

And the Daisies are getting close to peak bloom (very abundant this year for some climatic reason)...

Of course, all these attractive flowers are not desiged so much for human eyes, as for the eyes of the pollinators.
This little fellow is certainly enjoying a beardtongue bloom!

And it's obvious that butterflies have not forgotten the forget-me-nots.
Here are some Great Spangled Fritillaries, some Little Wood Satyrs, and a Carolina Satyr.

Mourning Cloak butterflies are emerging and enjoying all the puddles, but not spending much time at the flowers.
(second photo taken last year, just to illustrate the open wings...)

I particularly liked the 1st shot of the Mourning Cloak butterfly - great texture.

love the last one and those butterfly shots with the large color contrast best but ...
