Default Almost Forgot..

Almost forgot to share a story about the most exciting event that happened while visiting the kids last weekend.
We were watching a DVD about 9 o'clock that evening (BTW, if you want to see a really good movie that doesn't have a lot of language and violence, I can highly recommend "Blindside" best movie I've seen in years.) anyway, all of a sudden we heard the dog making a fuss so, we went outside to see what was up.
This is what we found...

Apparently the next door neighbor raises exotic snakes and one got loose.
I went and grabbed my camera while my son n' law went to get his gun.
I got one shot off with the camera before he got one with the gun.
I really don't understand why everyone was so excited about over one little ole snake...

I don't either

Good thing it wasn't a Spitting Cobra, or your 105mm wouldn't have been long enough.

Lucky dog, too.

My God, what a shot - especially for a grab shot - good thing you work fast. Or did you wait for it to open its mouth?

Very cool shot! Good thinking and good reactions. If it had been me, I wouldn't have stopped running until I was blocks away...

Oh mt gosh... now I feel like a jerk!
I thought somebody would call my bluff on this right away, and I would have feigned my disbelief that nobody thought it was real even for a moment!
Oh well, here goes the truth. We took the snake outside and posed the shot.
And I guess I better tell the rest of it...
Please don't be mad at me for deceiving you...
The snake is made of plaster.

Really didn't think it would fool anybody, really I didn't.

BTW, the dog is real.

The fangs are too long and tapered for a cobra - they are viper fangs, so it should have been obvious, but most people have never looked a live cobra in the mouth (which wouldn't be open until it actually strikes, either)! It was fun to play along, though.
