My favorite part of Chattanooga is the Carousel. Each figure was hand-carved by a local artist:

While in Memphis for a good friend's wedding, I had the opportunity to stop by and see the Lorraine Motel. It was quite an experience! The civil rights museum was closed, but it was still well worth the trip.

I didn't even realize you were thinking of a Pentax! Welcome!

And can I come visit Chattanooga (even if I don't know how to spell it)? You should work for the travel bureau, your pictures make me want to see it!

I'd be happy to see your pictures a little bigger, too, I find the artwork one a little too small to see it properly. My favorites are the first carousel picture, the chapel windows and the bridge because they look great at this size. I also like the street car, though the lighting was very difficult.

Congrats on your new Pentax - you surely won't be disappointed as your lovely series shows !

I thought the DoF used for the flowers was excellent - made then jump right out. The chapel is lovely too, but I think the museum should have been shot in landscape not portrait. The bridge over the river is prime for a HDR shot ! Carousel looks interesting - lots of potential there.

Vole -

Thanks for sharing your talents here! A fine and varied series that showcases both your skills and your town's character.

Great use of DOF and composition on the flowers.
Amazing light at the chapel!
Love the green around the outdoor art, and the sky above the museum.
Wonderful lines at the bridge!
Really fun details from the carousel!
Memphis shots were harder for me to see on this old monitor (and my old eyes). Will enjoy seeing them bigger some day!

Looks like you are getting some great use out of that used camera and old lens. Thanks again for sharing the fruits of your skilled hands and eyes!
