Default Trying some old Extension Tubes

Was cleaning out some old junk and found my old Spiratone thread-mount extension tubes. Needed a few more wetland photos for a project here at the park, so decided to try out the extension tubes with my old Vivitar 135 m42 lens.

Swamp Milkweeds are at a peak bloom in the wetlands now, and are a real "magnet" to the pollinators.

The vivitar/ext tube combination gives some really nice color for several summer flowers. But there seems to be some CA, at least for the blue of the chicory. What do you think?

On the other hand, this lens seems to have some nice resolving power. Do you like the detail on this white-lipped forest snail's shell?

The Cherokee Clubtail (a rather rare species of dragonfly endemic to our region) did not let me get close enough for a rreal macro shot, but the Spangled Skimmer posed for a head shot! Would have done better with more time and a tripod...

And, just for fun, here are a few more wetland photos taken with more modern lenses.

With the approach of peak summer vacation season, I may have a little less time to stop by here in the next week or so, so let me thank you in advance for any comments & critique!

Another beautiful series Mole ! So many great shots but the first Bee shot stands out and there are some lovely dragon shots too. However you've shown that the Viv 135 is really a great lens !

There are so many good M42 135's and it just so happens that my 'new' Tak 135, Tak 50/1.4 and Spotmatic (plus screw extension tubes) arrived a couple of days ago (the 2nd package I won on Ebay - except this one took 7 weeks to get here) ! The Tak seems even better than the CZJ 135 I have, on first comparison, it's so sharp. After seeing your shots I'm looking forward to getting those tubes on it !

Just goes to show, you can still get good photos with the older gear on a modern body.
Nice work Mole!

Well, your presence would be certainly missed, but you have much too do... Keep your camera with ya. Excellent shot here. Thanks.
