Default Lilies & Beetles & more

Was up at Roan Mt earlier this week. There is a State Park partway up the mountain, but most of the mt is in Cherokee & Pisgah National Forests.

Main goal of this trip (besides enjoying a bright day in the mts) was to check out the rare Gray's Lily, an endemic species here. This is a great year for Gray's Lily bloom - most we've seen in years!

Here are a few more views of the lilies - some habitat shots and more. Any preferences?

Most days at Roan are foggy or stormy, but we were blessed with a rare sunny day, with some fine cloud patterns as well!

Back at home, the Milkweeds are still full of hungry bugs. This Tiger Swallowtail was feasting on nectar.

I knew that Milkweed Beetles enjoy milkweed, but did not know that Junebugs (also a beetle) enjoyed milkweed pollen!

Buttonbush is blooming in the marshes, and it sure is a magnet for the beetles & butterflies!

Will be out on the trail, and out with the large number of park visitors, so not able to stop by here again for several days. Thanks in advance for any comments, critique, and suggestions!
