Default Sri Lanka -- Wildlife

Here's another series. Sri Lanka is abundant with wildlife. While we did not visit one of the many national wildlife park, we saw plenty driving around in the rural areas.

Pentax K10D +DA 18-250.

Wild monkeys were frequent visitors to the resort at which we stayed. This mother and child were part of a larger group.

This little fellow was actually in some trees along the road.

Saw this peacock in a rice paddy

And finally elephants

That's quite an expression on the 2nd monkey! And wonderful capture of the elephant group - great contrast of their tough hides and the soft water ripples...

Thanks Mole, Ronny and Lou...I almost wish that I had taken a tour of the wildlife national parks while we were there. The elephants were particularly thrilling to watch.

I'm very jealous, jelpee!
What an opportunity, once in a life time. Excellent photos.

Thanks Frogfish,GW, hnikesh & ST: It was thrilling to see animals that we usually only see in zoos in their natural habitat. I have more photos of elephants that perhaps I'll post in the wildlife thread.

The trip was very memorable...jut got to figure out how to top it in 2011
