Default The archer Which B&W

not sure which one of these I liked best, whats your opinions?

I dont shoot much B&W, I am practicing so any suggestions are welcome.












I didnt blow out these shots BTW, liked them better B&W so darkened them up to taste.

No noise was added, I kicked this one up to 1600 ISO to get some grain for the transfer

The archer doesn't work for me. He is not on any of the Rule of Thirds cross-sections therefore the eye is drawn the centre - which is bland. Maybe if you hadn't darkened him so much then the detail would have drawn the eyes to him ? #2 - where the tunic is more visible certainly has more attraction.

I find B&W a lot harder to do than color, I don't shoot in B&W and if I want a B&W version of something I'll do it at home.
And then ... I always end up with the feeling that I'm loosing something in the process.

With the archer shots there is to much pure black to my liking, and I really don't like the comp.

The guy shot, is to dark for me. You don't see any expression in the face, the eyes are gone, even the mouth that has a hint of a smile has turned expressionless.
