Default Safari Niagara

This place used to be called Zooz. Pretty much a zoo but started by a family out in the countryside in the Niagara Region in Southern Ontario. Spent the day with one of my sisters and her family. Was hard to get good shots of a lot of the animals as the setup at this zoo is animals in large cages rather than in open habitats like most other zoos.

All shots taken with K20D and DA 55-300mm lens EXIF is contained in the images.

Mike wonderful shots under difficult shooting conditions. It's obvious the Hippo didn't listen to its mother when she said brush your teeth every day. LOL

Nice shots, Mike!
The IQ of the DA-55-300 never ceases to amaze me.

Excellent close-ups Mike! The one of the hippo looks ever so familiar--reminds me of me about 9:00 PM each night!

Great shots Mike ! You and your DA 55-300 are one of the prime reasons I went out & bought one last Friday. I'm excited at giving it a run-out, maybe I'll go to the zoo or World Expo again this week !!

Well, on top of the difficulty of shooting the animals in the cages, it was very heavy overcast, which to some might be a nice thing but to me it made it hard to get the right aperture/shutter that I wanted. But overall I think I was still fairly pleased. I think that hippo would have a few words to say if you decided to try and brush those tusks.

The 55-300 was definitely a good choice, I'm always happy to mount it to my camera for the zoo and racetrack trips.

It really is a good lens for the price. I hope you enjoy yours.

Hippo's teeth must be decorative...I've never seen a Hippo with a mouth full of teeth!

Excellent shots...very sharp with lots of details.

Great color & clarity on all of these, and wonderful expressions! Excellent job, even more so considering the difficult lighting conditions!

I really like that fine portrait of the pensive lemur (#1). And I hope the last one is a crop, as Emus have been known to grab at shiny objects, and that one has a rather intense look on its face!
