Default Wild Photo Day (Lots of photos)

Well, finally got my chance again to photograph the animals (mostly birds) at Hawk Creek. I did my best, it was a very harsh sunny day without a cloud in the sky and the event was from 10-2pm, about the brightest time of the day so lighting was difficult to manage at times. I was feeling a little intimidated by all the pro equipment around me today, besides being the only one shooting Pentax. Anyway... Here are some of the shots... Forgive my BIF, I tried.

Barred Owl

Barn Owl

Augur Buzzard

Northern Goshawk

Macaw

And as mentioned, my feeble attempts at BIF.

A barn owl being released to the wild.

Turkey Vulture

Ferruginous Hawk

Harris' Hawk

Hope you enjoyed this, comments and critiques welcome. EXIF is in the photos.

Yes, Indeed! Mike, you outdid yourself on some of these.

Great work despite the harsh lighting - harsh for photographers and for the birds! Wonderful expression on the Barred Owl and Buzzard, and great color & composition on the Goshawk. Really nice face-on photo of the Barn Owl in flight, and the Vulture is so cute!!
Which lens(es) were you using on these?

Thanks mole. I used my DA 55-300mm lens the whole time. Worked out for my purposes. The Barred Owl was hooting up a racket sitting on his fencepost. That turkey vulture's name is Barf. The story with him is that he was raised by humans right out of the egg so can't be released back into the wild because he's actually afraid of other vultures. They use him for educational shows and stuff.

Entertaining series Mike ! I really like some of the bird shots but that ground level Boa shot is cool too.

Great shots!

Don't be apologetic for the BIF shots, miles better than I have achieved.
