Default K-7 focus screens

Hello!

I have a confession to make, I hate the K-7 focus screen, it's awful for macro work, can anyone recommend a different focus screen for this purpose? I love the K1000 focus screen (prism?) so anything like that would be good, unless there's something even better.

Thanks in advance.

Check these out: http://www.katzeyeoptics.com/cat--Pe...at_pentax.html

You might find cheaper ones on ebay but that's probably what you are looking for.

Thanks Mike!

Anyone got any practical experience of different screens? I read some of them can affect metering, obviously don't want to mess that up just to make manual focusing easier.

Read the info on Katzeye's site, they actually talk about how it affects metering, it only really affects spot metering, but they do talk about it under the product description.

Yeah I read that, was just wondering if people had problems in real world situations.

www.focusingscreen.com @ Taiwan.

Lots of options and MUCH cheaper than Katzeyes !! US$60 inc postage. Excellent service and response and high quality screens. Good quality tools included (I read somewhere that the tools are better than those provided by Katzeyes).

There is some interesting reading on the site and descriptions of each of the many options available. I haven't noticed any impact on stops. I use the K7 almost exclusively in MF mode since I don't always trust the K7's metering anyway but on the rare occasions I want to take an instant shot, or need a heads up on settings for MF mode by using the Green mode for a metering shot, then the exposure has been fine with the screen having no noticeable effect.

Took less than 1 minute to install. I have the FSB rule of thirds with standard split prism - I think if I could choose again I'd have the same but with the prism at 45 degrees.

Hm,
thanks for the info on focusingscreen (FS) ... one question, though. KatzEye makes a difference between *istDL and *istDL2, where FS doesn't list the *istDL2 at all.

Is the K-m one the right for the *istDL2? Am a bit unsure at the moment...

regards,
Th.

Hey Ash, I'd be interested to know how you like it, one you get it and use it for awhile.
