Default K7 Problem

I've been too busy to use the camera for 2 or 3 days now but on shooting a few shots today I notice that the review on the LCD was taking an abnormal amount of time to load - circa 4 secs per shot, jpgs. Battery is fully charged and I tried two different SD cards with the same result, so it's not the card.

I usually shoot in MF so I tried all the other modes and they were all the same with the exception of the Green mode - with the review showing up instantly.

I've been through all the camera menus and can't find anything that could be related to this. Any ideas anyone before I take it back to the shop for them to check it out ?

Hmmm.... that is rather strange, Kev. You wouldn't think the mode would affect it either way. I wouldn't recommended taking it back to the shop though, you never know about those guys. What I recommend is shipping it to me asap and let me see what I can figure out. I'll send it back within a reasonable amount of time... depending what your definition of reasonable is.

Seriously though, unless somebody else has a better idea, I think having the shop take a look at it might be a good idea.

Hi Kevin,

The most common cause of this is having lens correction turned on. The processing time for the little computer in the cam is a bit overwhelming. In Green mode, this function is probably not allowed, so that would explain the GM quickness.

Any other features that increase processing time should be turned off to get the fastest review appearance, but the amount of processing time for the lens correction is easily the most notable.

That was it Scott ! Great, thank you, problem solved. I was in the menu the other day for something and maybe I switched it on without really giving it much thought. Now I know better. Thanks again.

Hi Kevin,

Glad that worked out, I thought it the most likely answer since I'd been there and done that. I experimented with the feature, and then forgot that I had set it. The next time out, I was doing my usual take one shot, then chimp before continuing routine, and I was almost falling asleep waiting for the LCD to display. It's a mistake I haven't repeated. . .

Scott beat me to it, but I would have said the same thing. I also tried it when I first got the camera and decided that it wasn't worth the extra time it took. It's probably a really cool feature, but I had forgotten the camera even had it until I saw your post.
