Default Great Blue Herons can read!!

Last year our park was home to a very bold immature Great Blue Heron. He hung around the park's marina most of the winter, and was not at all concerned with people approaching. Of course, he's grown up and become properly shy now. But another immature GBH seems to be taking his place!

This GB Heron has adopted our park's fishing dock. Perhaps he's attracted by all the "fish habitat" signs!

And he does not mind folks getting "up close & personal" with him.
This is great for the park visitors (and staff) who like watching wildlife, but let's hope, for his sake, that he becomes shier as he matures!

These foggy, nearly-autumn mornings are rich with wildlife discovery acrooss the park lands. Hope you enjoyed seeing our newest "friend!"

Thanks for any comments, critique & suggestions.

Cute story to go with some lovely shots. Though I did think the Fish Habitat sign was missing a list of the species of fish living there, I mean the GBH surely wants to know what's on the menu ....right ?

I had a look at the shot where he was flapping his wings. Only 1/90 in AV. Personally I would have liked to see those wings nice and sharp rather than the blur (though others may prefer to see the 'movement').

Thanks for posting the story Mole !

Kevin - We're working on the menu sign!!
Indeed a sharper shot of his wings would have been nice. But photo was taken right around sunrise, still quite dark. My old, scratched A* 300 is only sharp at a very limited range of F-stop, and my K-M is too noisy at anything above ISO 800. (even there it's often too noisy). So 1/90 was fastest possible. But don't worry, if this bird hangs around, I will take (and probably post) more photos!

GW - Thanks so much! Our lake is very photogenic, especially early before all the crowds of boats arrive!
