Default Pentax K-x Flash Question

Hi all,

I purchased my Pentax K-x (thanks in large part to the help I got from this forum - thanks!) earlier this year with the 2 lens kit and I have been thrilled with it thus far. I've been using the camera just for personal use: travel, family events, friends, pets, etc. most often without any flash. However, I have an upcoming party that I'd like to get some good photos at that will require flash use. The location is an old building with very high ceilings and exposed brick walls and many areas will have dim lighting. My question is, will the on camera flash of the K-x be able to produce quality photos in these conditions? If so, any general tips for the best results? And if not, does anyone have any reasonably priced external flash suggestions?

Hi Jill,
I'm no expert on flash but, have found generally if your shots are 6 to 8 feet away and you don't mind the look of the on-board flash, you can get pretty good results.
T get a really good idea of what others are using and and what they recommend, I suggest reading some of the recent post here on the subject. Lots of great advice.
Cheers,

Hi Jill,

If at all possible then a dedicated flash will give you much more flexibility and better shots than the on-board flash. Follow this link here where we have been discussing more cost effective flash units that the expensive, but excellent, Pentax or Metz flashes.
