Default Chickamauga Battlefield

Yesterday I went to the Chickamauga Battlefield for the first time, and it also happened to be the anniversary weekend of when the battle actually happened, so there were a lot of reinactors and civil war buffs everywhere.

They basically just have the battlefields left the way that they were at the time of the Civil War, with many memorials there for each battalion and each state that fought in the battle:

And the Reinactors had a demonstration every half hour or so of how the cannons work.

There is a memorial tower which you can climb to see the fields:

These are beautiful, Vole!
Can't see anything to critique.
I really like the shot of the little boy looking up at the cannon.

very cool shots! Kinda makes me wish I was still back when I lived real close to the battlefield in manassas VA, although now that I think of it, Im real close to the antietem battlefield in MD, only maybe 5 miles down road.

Maybe Ill check that out Tuesday. Looks like you had fun, thanks for sharing

Some really fine photos Vole - looks like both lenses were serving you well. No need to say, but as always, your compositional talents shine through!

Some very interesting photos of the people - especially the contrasts (period dress vs 21st century...).
Fascinating lines in that next-to-last photo!
Good sharp work on the memorials & the tower.
Great photo of little boy & big cannon! Wonderful expression and great arrangement...
Really nice series on the cannon firing - glad they were aimed the other way!
Last photo great colors and really nice perspective, but it looks like your horizon line is a little tilted (or was it a hill...)

Thanks for sharing these great photos!

I love the ones with a) the guy with the red bag (I'd just PP out the rifle barrel left) and b) the five guys pushing / leaning on a cannon. Very cool shots !
