Default A confession

Call it treason if you wish but I have been carrying around my old Fuji S7000 recently. The reason is that it is much lighter than my K10 and I am only using it to record things here in Tuktoyaktuk. Whenever I go out to take pictures I will take the K10, but the S7000 will sit in my bookbag for recording the surprizes. As soon as I can afford a KR I will be replacing the Fuji and will be all Pentax once more.

Please forgive me

Gulp!!!

Here is an image of the offensive beast, probably has more buttons than any other camera ever produced. The image was (of course) shot with the K10D and the FA 28-70mm f4.

Yes that is a Pentax *istD strap on the Fuji. Have any of you tried the Black Rapid strap? I am now using it on my K10D, it attaches to the tripod mount using a special attachment and then a long strap with a carabiner so that it hangs at your hip and is always available, and easy to carry. Worth a look.

I have to say I do like the design of the Fuji, looks like a Ferrari , or what Batman might use if he were a photographer instead of a crime fighter!

I dont think theres no need to end a life here, we can let you off with a simple hand amputation. With the miracles of science, Im sure we can graph that Fuji to your wrist since you like it so much! >

Thanks guys, Sunday afternoons in Tuk can be a little slow at times, I needed a laugh and knew you wouldn't disappoint me if I added just the right degree of controversy. You know what they say, "There is only one thing worse than being talked about..."

Thanks

The K10 is a big, heavy beast. I know when I had elbow problems it sat on a table while I shot with the much lighter K100, because it didn't hurt as much.

There are times when a fixed lens makes a lot of sense. If my Sony F717 hadn't died when it did, I'd probably still be happily snapping away with it. So I forgive you.

In its defense, the fuji still works with old flash units that would fry a modern DSLR, like my old Vivitar 283. I use it with a remote sensor cord and a Stroboframe Camera Flip bracket. The bracket is too small to use with the K10D. I call it my photojournalist rig since it is great for shooting indoor events.

Here it is (also shot with the K10D ):

You're a lucky man, Ira. In reconsidering the evidence, I find that you have made a reasonable effort to minimize your defection of brand loyalty by using the highly visible Pentax carry strap, and have vacated your sentence of hanging if indeed you will continue to show you have been rehabilitated by permanently affix a small piece of black tape, large enough to cover the word Fuji on said camera body. Under these conditions I feel we can over look a weak moment an forgive this atrocious indiscretion and reduce your sentence to one year of probation or until you purchase the new K-R or K-5 body.
But, let me make this clear, you're on thin ice here mister. One more misstep and it back to the gallows!

Sorry to revive this but I have seen the error of my ways. The outfit you see here is now in my locker at school for shooting such demanding things as minor presentations at school assemblies and to teach photography to my Grade 9 class and my high school art class.

All of my "real" photography (ie anything you actually take the time to get right because you WANT to) is now set to my K10D, usually with the 50mm f1.4. If I could get my hands on a cheap *ist model or K100/110 I would put the Fuji to rest entirely.

You have rehabilitated me.
