Hi Martin, et. al.

One more crack it. Martin, I tried your HDR programme this time... then I did some work on the photo with Photoshop Elements 8. So, I think the crop is better. I think this will. Next I should bring a tripod and take a series of different pictures.

Really enjoyed all the varied crops & PP work, but actually liked your original photo the best! It is carefully composed, with that great "echo" of the trees in the water lilies, and really shows the rich green.

Now, if you want to try another variation, you might want to look into local contrast enhancement:

Local contrast enhancement is what the HDR programs do. The method described in the link is what I think Photomatix does. It's main advantages are that it's fast and very tolerant of noise but on the downside the blurring step is what causes halos if you're not careful and prevents you getting right to the edge of very complex objects - so it might not work as well around the edges of your trees.
