Default Alien Caterpillar Party !

I had been shooting a hover fly that was too busy washing itself to notice me when I spotted this tiny bugs (ca. 1cm long) on a leaf high up near the top of the small tree in our front garden. I found 5 on the one leaf and that was all - not another one in sight.

On closer inspection they were like nothing I'd ever seen before .... so cute ! Until I checked the shots later, look at the fangs on these things - they remind me of Alien !

If anyone knows what they are I'd be delighted to know ! Thanks for looking.

That aint no party thats a leaf eating contest there had to be others around some where this was a team effort like a sheep to shawl for the spinners and weavers Team work gets it done faster so then the party can start...

Great shots, Kev!
Very pretty coloring too. I'll bet nobody could wrestle that lens from you if they tried!

"Lovely to look at, but dangerous to hold!" Don't worry about the jaws, but don't pick one up - those spines are probably venomous! Very well photographed.
