Default Balloon Festival

Shots from a once a year hot air balloon festival. FYI: Unknown to me, the balloons have no steering of any kind and are followed by chase trucks that pack them up wherever they land. Various shots include the first acensions as the sun rises over the hills, in flight and an HDR that captures how incredible the event really looks. Kx, Tamron 18-250.

The balloons against the moon in 3 is great, nice blue sky that cause the color of the balloon to jump at you.

And the last one with the darker sky gives good contrast to the color balloons.

pboerger, The detail and color in these are fantastic!
Very nice work. I think any one of these could make a good magazine cover.

I agree -- these are all wonderful shots. We had a balloon land in a field close to our house several years ago, and I learned a lot talking with the pilot. It's true that there is no way to steer these crafts, but they can control their altitude, and by doing that they can sometimes find an altitude where the wind is blowing in more-or-less the direction they want to travel. But nothing is ever guaranteed, so they tell their customers they cannot guarantee the route they will follow, or where they will end up.
