Thought I would share this here instead of starting a new thread, street hockey, (which because of the dirt roads cannot really start until there is frost and snow) the season has begun. This was taken through my window with my 100-300mm at the 300mm end with a tripod, and is significantly cropped. It is still a little soft, not the sharpest lens especially in low light.

LOL! I never think of street hockey being a WINTER sport! Obviously they are having a great time playing.

You are right that the lens is a bit soft at the long end - it's had that reputation. You always seem to get the most out of it though.

Harriet, I do get fair results from the zoom but never the sharp images I see from the better lenses. I wonder if the FA 80-320mm is any better?

and here i am remembering when you had not gotten a pentax yet.. how you were bitching about not wanting a DL but the DS was too expensive..
