Default A walk through the nature preserve.

Here is one I haven't had time to look up, and have no idea what it is so, if anyone knows...?
this is one of those shots I wish I had the macro lens, with the 55-300 is't hard to get any detail.

He didn't like having his photo taken and hurried away as fast as he could into the weeds.

I was standing about 8ft above the water, it looked like a bunch of baby Lima beans floating on the water. There were quite a few DF's twitting about, a lot of them were all green and a lot of them were blue with a green face like this one.

This shot gives you a better idea of the Lima bean look, and how far above him I was.

I mentioned all the vegetation, here is one that is kind of interesting. It has a bright yellow, bulb like flower, that later opens and reveals its fruit. Bright red sticky little beans.

I haven't any idea what they are.

Thanks NMR,
The velvet ant is what first came to mind when I saw it but, I'm not sure how big they get, this thing was huge compared to any ant I've seen!

Love the dragonfly pics. One of my favorite subjects. All heart shaped when they mate as well.

Glad to see some of your great "critter pics" again GW!
Yes, that first one looks like a velvet ant - which is actually not an ant at all, but a wingless wasp! Folks around here call them "cow killers," because they are fairly common in pastures, and their sting hurts so much, you might think it would kill a cow!

Thank you for the comments guys,
Glad that I now know what a red velvet ant looks like and also, so happy I didn't try to convince it to continue the photo shoot!

That's all sorts of crazy, never seen one of those "ants" before!

Awesome shots GW!

A first for me too, Ash! Like I mentioned, sure glad I didn't harass him too much!

Definitely!

I would have been too enthralled with seeing it and probably got stung trying to get more shots.
